The Panasonic LUMIX S1R II redefines professional imaging with its newly developed 44.3MP full-frame sensor. Designed to deliver natural, high-resolution rendering, this camera excels in rich colour expression and offers a high dynamic range with its 14-stop V-Log/V-Gamut capabilities. For the first time in LUMIX history, 8K video recording is available, offering an unprecedented level of detail with sixteen times the pixel count of Full HD. It supports multiple recording formats, including 8.1K at 17:9 (8128 x 4288) and 8K at 16:9 (7680 x 4320). The Open Gate Recording at 6.4K 30p 10-bit ensures flexibility by capturing all aspect ratios from a single shot. The camera also offers ProRes RAW HQ internal recording, enabling a streamlined workflow with minimal setup, perfect for professionals who need agility and efficiency.

The LUMIX S1R II supports external output of 8K video through HDMI video data output. It is possible to record 8K video to an external recorder via an HDMI cable. A future firmware update will further enhance its capabilities by enabling RAW video output to ATOMOS external recorders (Apple ProRes RAW) and Blackmagic Design external recorders (Blackmagic RAW). Additionally, the ability to simultaneously record proxy files within the camera enhances post-production efficiency.

Audio recording is taken to the next level with 32-bit float recording via the DMW-XLR2, ensuring superior sound quality and dynamic range. The camera is powered by the latest processing engine with L2 technology, which maximises the performance of its high-resolution sensor with high-speed processing. It achieves a balance between high resolution and low noise, offering a standard ISO range of 80-51200 and an extended ISO range of 40-102400, allowing for versatility in various lighting conditions.

The Real-Time LUT functionality allows users to create unique colour expressions straight out of the camera. Users can apply signature LUT presets, overlay two LUTs, and save up to 39 LUTs, supporting both ".VLT" and ".CUBE" formats. Through the companion app, photographers and videographers can create custom LUTs, download LUTs from creators, transfer them to the LUMIX S1R II, and even apply LUTs directly on a smartphone, ensuring seamless integration into their workflow.

Autofocus performance is significantly enhanced with class-leading AI-driven Phase Hybrid AF technology. High-resolution cameras require precise focusing, and the LUMIX S1R II meets this need with a phase detection AF system featuring 779 points of distance measurement. The cutting-edge AI technology improves real-time recognition and enhances tracking autofocus performance, ensuring that subjects are consistently sharp, even in challenging shooting scenarios.

Stabilisation is a crucial aspect of any professional camera, and the LUMIX S1R II excels with its advanced 8.0-stop 5-axis Body Image Stabilisation (B.I.S.). The 7.0-stop 5-axis Dual I.S. 2 technology further enhances stability, particularly in telephoto ranges where in-body stabilisation alone may struggle.

For videographers, Active I.S. technology ensures steady video footage even in demanding conditions. Whether capturing large movements, unstable walking shots, wide-angle footage, or anamorphic lens use, the combination of B.I.S., Dual I.S., Boost I.S., Active I.S., and E.I.S. delivers unparalleled stability.

The LUMIX S1R II also boasts the fastest burst shooting performance in the LUMIX S series. With blackout-free continuous shooting at 40fps in both AFC and AFS modes, it allows photographers to capture fast-moving subjects with absolute precision. The SH Pre-burst feature ensures no crucial moment is missed by recording images before the shutter is released. Users can select from 0.5, 1.0, or 1.5-second pre-burst settings, giving greater flexibility in capturing the perfect shot.

A newly introduced High Speed Plus (H+) mode prioritises burst shooting speed when autofocus continuous (AFC) is enabled. The SH mode display post-view function allows for real-time framing without blackout, ensuring a seamless shooting experience.

Pushing the boundaries of resolution, the 177MP High-Resolution Mode meticulously captures the finest details. By shifting the sensor using the B.I.S. system, the camera shoots eight consecutive images, which are then synthesised into a single ultra-high-resolution image, offering a level of detail unmatched in its class.
