The large f/4 aperture enhances low-light performance and provides excellent control over depth of field. The built-in image stabiliser compensates for up to five stops of camera shake, ensuring razor-sharp images even in challenging lighting conditions. The lens's dual power autofocus system, featuring a ring-type USM drive supported by a high-speed CPU and optimised AF algorithms, offers rapid and near-silent focusing.

Incorporating fluorite glass, the RF 600mm f/4L IS USM significantly improves image resolution and contrast. The Air Sphere Coating (ASC) technology effectively reduces ghosting and flare, even in difficult lighting situations. The lens also features variable speed manual focusing with three selectable speeds and full-time manual focus, allowing for precise adjustments without switching focus modes.
