The Spotlight Series - Tony From Winchester
At London Camera Exchange, we're proud to have 26 exceptional branches located throughout the country. To bring our team closer to you, we're excited to introduce our 'Staff Spotlight' series.
Join us as we highlight the wonderful individuals at each location, starting with Tony from our Winchester branch.
A Glimpse of Tony's Wonderful Background:
My role is Manager at the Winchester branch.
I have worked for LCE for nearly 39 years starting in Southampton High Street in March 1985, I then became Assistant Manager at Winchester before my first Managers role at our Reading store, I then got the opportunity to manage the Winchester branch; which is the role that I currently hold.
LCE employs some truly great people, some of which have worked for the company for a very long time, like me !!! Over the years many have become good friends, as well as work colleagues and this in itself makes LCE a special place to work. I am very fortunate to be selling products that are exciting and that I am passionate about. I love the interaction with our customers, many who have become friends too! All of these ingredients make LCE a great company to be a part of.
My job can be extremely varied and involve many different things, as well as the day to day running of the shop. For example, recently I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and did a video for LCE where I spoke to a Zeiss ambassador about the new SFL range of binoculars; which was fun to do and well received.
I would say that my area of expertise would be binoculars and telescopes; which I am extremely passionate about. I love the experience that these products give to our customers. I also organise binocular and telescope shows at a local nature reserve; which I love doing. This year I am very excited to be staging two new optics shows at two brand new venues, one on 27th & 28th April and another on the 28th September, watch this space !!!
One of my most treasured items is a bespoke gadget bag which was made for me by Billingham. It is imperial blue with an orange interior (two of my favourite colours) and is a "one off" in this particular model and colour scheme. It is very special to me, as it was a gift given to me by my wife to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary (30 years this year).
In my spare time I love cycling, playing snooker & darts and listening to vinyl on my recently acquired Rega Planar 2 turntable.
I think the thing that surprises most people about me is when I tell them that as a child I lived in New Zealand for seven years.
Favourite Photos
Lastly, we requested Tony to share his favourite photo from his photography collection but he found it tough to choose from the three images below (and understandably so, they're all stunning!). These shots were captured in June 2019 during Tony's participation in a training session with Sony at The Cats Survival Trust in Welwyn. All photos were taken using a Sony A7 MK III.
We’d like to thank Tony for his dedication and contributions to our team throughout the years.
We hope you've enjoyed getting to know one of our amazing staff members and make sure you keep an eye out for our next ‘Staff Spotlight’, coming soon!
